Center Veriga Joins Move4Nature Initiative Once Again

The Slovenian-based sports organization Društvo Center Veriga has once again stepped up to support environmental and community wellbeing by joining the Move4Nature initiative for the second year running. On June 13, 2025, thirty members of the club — spanning generations — came together for a hike and clean-up effort along a scenic 5-kilometer trail leading to the Sava River.

Led by club manager Barbara Meglič and outdoor enthusiast Robi Guštin, the group dedicated their energy not only to enjoying nature but also to preserving it. The initiative, which blends physical activity with environmental responsibility, is a natural fit for Center Veriga, whose mission centers around activating and inspiring the local population through movement, learning, and community events.

Based in the heart of the Slovenian Alps, Center Veriga is a volunteer-run organization that promotes a holistic approach to health and community engagement. Their regular activities include:

  • Sports and recreational workshops, such as self-defense classes for women, inclusive programs for the elderly, and introductions to less-known sports aimed at encouraging regular exercise and healthier lifestyles.
  • Educational sessions focused on natural human movement—teaching children fundamental motor skills like crawling, rolling, walking, running, climbing, and jumping.
  • Cultural and travel presentations, featuring stories and insights from local rock climbers, world travelers, and photographers.
  • Book launches and discussions that foster intellectual engagement and community dialogue.

With initiatives like Move4Nature, Center Veriga continues to affirm its role not just as a sports club, but as a key contributor to the social, physical, and environmental wellbeing of the region.
