Move4Nature in the Alpes de Haute Provence, France
Every week the group of mostly retired teachers hike the hills of Haute Provence, France, and on October 14th they hiked as part of the Erasmus+ project Move4Nature (Move for Nature), collecting rubbish along the way.
Tuesday hikes are part of a year-round regular program, with two groups including a ZEN group that pitches accessible hikes with shorter distances and not as much up-and-down so everyone can be included. They are an opportunity not only to engage in physical activity but to meet and chat and feel included for many.
This hike was along the Verdon River and proved no challenge for the group who are mostly women, and well into their retirement years. As we walked, we picked up the rubbish along the path, which led us to recognising that most of our rubbish came for the path near towns. In nature our paths were fairly clean!
