School Summer Break Doesn’t Stop Primary School Bled Students from Mountaineering Together

Even though the school summer break is in full swing, students from Primary School Bled came together for an unforgettable mountaineering adventure in the Slovenian Alps. Before they take their next step into secondary school, they chose to celebrate the outdoors, moving together in nature and practicing sustainable travel.

Their journey began in Mojstrana, where they boarded a bus provided by the local municipality. This initiative aims to reduce traffic in the Vrata Valley while supporting more sustainable access to the mountains. From there, the young mountaineers set off on foot, hiking toward Bivak II before continuing their climb to the summit of Dovški Križ.

The hike was no easy feat: it stretched over 10 kilometers and demanded more than 1,600 meters of elevation gain. Still, the challenge was rewarding—students experienced both the joy of movement and the pride of reaching alpine heights together.

All participants are members of the Mountaineering Class at Primary School Bled, where they learn not only hiking skills but also values of respect for nature, teamwork, and resilience.

For these students, summer break didn’t mean a pause in learning—it simply moved to higher ground.
