Steps for Nature: OPES Volunteers Lead Outdoor Activities in Valencia

OPES volunteers, based in Spain, André, Claudia, and Madalina, proudly embraced the spirit of the Move4Nature project and organised local actions that promoted movement, learning, and care for the environment.

Their first activity took place in the stunning Albufera Natural Park (Spain), where they spent a day immersed in nature, walking through its trails, observing local bird species, and exploring the lagoon by boat. The experience offered a chance to raise awareness about the importance of protecting such rich ecosystems and inspired conversations about biodiversity and conservation.

Later in the summer, during a sports summer camp, they guided participants on a walk through Turia Park, one of Europe’s largest urban green spaces, once a riverbed, now a beautiful park that winds through the city. They shared stories about Valencia’s title as the European Green Capital 2024 and reflected on the value of walking in nature, enjoying it respectfully, and contributing to its preservation.

Through these activities, they aimed to bring the Move4Nature call to life by showing how simple outdoor actions can strengthen our connection to nature and spark positive change in our communities.

Thank you André, Claudia, Madalina and OPES!
