Youth from Suceava Region Embrace Nature and Sustainability in Move4Nature Event

On June 21, the scenic trails of the Suceava region in Romania came alive with the spirit of adventure and environmental responsibility as 55 participants—50 teenagers and 5 accompanying adults, took part in a Move4Nature hiking and clean-up event. Representing the communities of Siret, Gura Humorului, and Gramesti, the group climbed the 5-kilometre trail to Piatra Șoimului peak, where they reached the observation tower and enjoyed panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

The event was not only an opportunity for physical activity and social connection but also a chance to contribute to environmental stewardship. Although the group collected a modest 4 kilograms of waste, mostly their own and some found along the route—the limited amount of litter highlighted the ongoing efforts of the Gura Humorului Mountain Rescue Service, which regularly maintains the trails in the area.

This Move4Nature activity exemplified the project’s mission: to engage young people in outdoor physical activity while fostering environmental awareness and green habits. It also reinforced the value of community collaboration and youth engagement in protecting natural heritage sites across Europe
